Edward L. Buchanan, IV
Chairman of the Board
chairman of the board edward buchanan Mr. Buchanan was elected Chairman of the Board in April 2013. He brings over 40 years of experience as a certified public accountant and business advisor to numerous businesses and operations in a variety of industries. Mr. Buchanan will use his expertise and management skills to enhance the effectiveness of the Board, as well as serve as a resource to the Company's management team.

Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer/President
vice chairman, chief executive officer, and president michael brashears Mike Brashears is Brethren Mutual's Vice Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer. Joining the Company in August 1978 as the assistant accountant, Mike was elected to Brethren's Board of Directors in 1990. In 1995, he was promoted to Brethren Mutual Executive Vice President. Mike was named CEO and Chairman of the Board in 1999.

Mike stresses the importance of communicating openly with the Company's customers and agents. Additionally, he believes the Company must continue to provide a high-level of customer service and maintain competitive products to meet the insurance needs of Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia residents. Brethren now also provides insurance for businesses in Delaware and the District of Columbia as well as farms in Delaware.
Mike focuses on the challenge of preserving the Company's corporate personality while successfully competing in the 21st century.

Joseph Evelius, CPCU
Vice President of Claims
vice president of claims joseph evelius Joe Evelius is Brethren Mutual's Vice President of Claims. Joining the Company in May 2012 as the Company's Claims Manager, Joe brings over 30 years of claims experience to his position. Joe was elected a Company Officer in April 2015.

Responsible for overseeing Brethren Mutual's 30 staffed Claims Department, Joe believes responsiveness and open dialogue are key elements of claims handling. Striving for excellent claims customer service, Joe understands the Claims Department is representative of the Company by keeping its promise to the policyholder with regard to the policy.

Tammy L. Aaron, CPA, CPP
Vice President of Finance/Treasurer/Secretary
vice president of finance tammy aaron Tammy Aaron is Brethren Mutual's Vice President of Finance/Treasurer. She oversees the day-to-day activities within the billing, receivables, payables, payroll, financial and statistical areas. Additionally, she prepares quarterly and annual NAIC required statements and supplemental financial reports.

Joining Brethren Mutual in 1993, Tammy was promoted to Assistant Treasurer in April 1995 and Treasurer in April 1999. She was named Vice President of Finance in April 2002.

Tammy believes the Company's competitiveness has helped to maintain its financial stability. Her focus is to continually monitor the constant changing insurance and financial environments to be proactive in reaching Brethren's future goals.

Robin Schroyer, GISF
Vice President of Information Services/CIO
vice president of information services and C I O robin schroyer Robin Schroyer is Brethren Mutual’s Vice President of Information Services/Chief Information Officer. She oversees the Company’s Information Services Department – comprised of Programming, Operations, and Quality Assurance.

Robin joined Brethren Mutual in 1988 as the Company’s first Programming Manager. In December 2015, Robin was named Information Services Manager. During her 30-year career with the Company, Robin has played a key role in the Company’s technical accomplishments.

From converting manual processes to automated transactions, preparing for Y2K, migrating from Brethren’s HP processing system to its current Point system, and overseeing the advancement of Brethren’s web applications, Robin understands technology is ever-changing in today’s world. She also knows the importance of cyber security measures, Cloud technologies, disaster recovery techniques, and IT audit procedures and the roles they serve in moving Brethren Mutual forward as a solid mutual carrier for agents and policyholders.
